Fishing and Species

The Chinook season runs from June to the second week of July. Most of this fishing is done by swinging flies on spey rods, while wading. They take 10 anglers per week for this fishing. The Steelhead season runs from mid September through October. They take 6 anglers per week for this fishing. This fishing is all done by wading and swinging flies on two handed rods. The sink tips range from RIO MOW 5/5 to 12.5' in T11, T14 and T17.

Arrivals and Departures

Arrivals and departures vary each year. There is no flexibility.

Accomodations

Accommodations are in cabins. There are showers and flush toilets. They are basic but comfortable. There is a main lodge with a dining room and kitchen. Next to that is a lounge with comfortable seating, place to hang out, talk about the day and plan tomorrow.

Non Anglers / Activities

This is not a good place for non-anglers as there are no special activities.

Airport / Logistics

Anglers should arrive in Anchorage the night before and overnight. Arrive at the Alaska Air Transit charter office by 8:00 AM. The flight is typically on a Pilatus, which is fast, pressurized and comfortable. The flight to the lodge departs Merrill Field at 10:00 AM., arriving about 2 1/2 hours later. After returning from the lodge, plan on spending the night in Anchorage or a departure after 8 pm.

Climate

The Aleutian Peninsula is known for its dynamic weather. King season has long days with some wind and rain. The weather gets colder in the fall for steelhead fishing and can even snow. Layering with the latest from Patagonia or Simms will make for a comfortable week on the water. Bring your newest raincoat.

Included

Included is the round-trip charter from Anchorage, 7 nights at the lodge, all meals, snacks, water and soft drinks.

Not Included

Bring your own fishing gear, waders and flies. Also bring your own wine or liquor as the lodge does not have it available or sell it. All booze should be ordered well in advance and shipped to the lodge as freight. You will need to buy an Alaska fishing license (possible online) before your arrival.

Gratuities

Guide gratuities range form $900 - $1000 and cook/chef gratuities should be about $250. In addition tip the maintenance person.

Medical Facilities

The nearest medical facility is Dilligham, but you will want to go to Anchorage. Medical evacuation insurance is highly recommended as an evacuation will cost more than your trip.

Documentation

ID for the flight such a drivers license or Passport. You may need to provide proof of a COVID vaccine in advance of the trip.

Beverages

Bring your own wine or liquor as the lodge does not have it available or sell it. Aleutian Adventures will purchase beverages for you in advance. There is a charge to fly it to the lodge, so beer gets expensive.

Laundry

The lodge has a washer and dryer to be used for emergencies. Come self sufficient with clothes, long underwear and socks for your week of fishing.
